 First Call for Abstract Submission

The College of Medicine (CoM) is pleased to announce that the 2019 College of Medicine Research Dissemination Conference will be held from Thursday 7th November to Friday 8th November 2019 at the College of Medicine, Mahatma Gandhi Campus in Blantyre, Malawi. The conference is the premier gathering of local and international research scientists, public health practitioners and policy-makers. This year’s theme is Addressing sustainable development goals through multidisciplinary research”. During this conference, participants will discuss and reflect on addressing sustainable development goals through multidisciplinary research in Malawi.

CoM is therefore inviting interested investigators to submit abstracts relevant to any of the following thematic areas:

  1. Communicable diseases
  2. Non-communicable diseases
  3. Nutrition
  4. Health Systems and Policy
  5. Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health

Applicants are advised that this year’s applications and registration will be done online hence they should visit  to register and submit their abstracts. The abstracts should be submitted online by 17:00hrs on Saturday, 24th August, 2019. The closing date for registration and payment is Monday, 7th October 2019.

Please note that the Malawi Medical Journal (MMJ) will publish a special issue for 2019 Research Dissemination Conference abstracts.

All abstracts will be peer-reviewed and successful investigators will be informed by Monday, 16th September, 2019. Applicants will be required to pay registration fees as follows;

  1. Undergraduate and Postgraduate students: MK20,000
  2. University of Malawi Faculty members and COM affiliates staff: MK30,000
  3. Other local delegates: MK50,000
  4. International delegates: $100
